Heat Swept Away in NBA's Four-Game Series Thrashing by Cavaliers

AP, LOS ANGELES

The Cleveland Cavaliers brought out all the stops on Monday, thumping the Miami Heat 138-83 to sweep the series 4-0. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors survived a tense battle with the Houston Rockets, winning 109-106 to take a 3-1 lead.

In game three, the Cavaliers decimated Miami 124-87, and they continued their ruthless form on Monday. They jumped out to a humongous 43-17 lead after the first quarter, leaving the Heat reeling. By half-time, the scoreboard read 72-33, a staggering lead that highlighted the gulf between the two teams.

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers' scoring with a mighty 22 points. Six Cleveland players ended the game in double figures, with De'Andre Hunter adding 19 points, Ty Jerome contributing 18, and Evan Mobley chipping in with 17. Mitchell's determination to end the series swiftly was palpable, telling TNT television that they aimed to "keep our foot on their throat and on their neck, and continue to play 48 minutes of basketball."

Miami coach Erik Spoelstra admitted being "humbled" by the series loss. "This series was humbling. These last two games were embarrassing," he said. "Cleveland is a very good team... We were as irrational as we usually are, thinking that we had a chance to win this series, and they showed us why we weren’t ready for that."

In the other playoff game, Golden State Warriors' Jimmy Butler made a triumphant return from injury in a thrilling win over the Houston Rockets. Butler, who was injured in an intensely debated incident in game two, scored a staggering 27 points to help the Warriors take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven series.

The contest was a fiery affair, with several physical altercations spreading tension throughout the game. In the end, the Warriors managed to come out on top, setting up a mouth-watering encounter in the next round against the winner of the series between the Indiana Pacers and Milwaukee Bucks.
