Brian Smrz, known for his reputation in the action genre, has been given complete artistic freedom to realise this film. His true passion lies in real action, and the R-rating of "24 Hours to Live" allows for more graphic and authentic depictions. The movie combines high-speed car chases, death-defying stunts, shootouts, and physical prowess typical of action films, but interweaves them with the personal narrative of one man's search for redemption.

Ethan Hawke plays the character Travis Conrad, a former elite soldier who is offered a dangerous and lucrative assassination job by his old army buddy Jim Morrow. However, things take a turn when Travis is betrayed by Morrow and sets off to rescue an Interpol agent and take down Red Mountain.

The city of Cape Town serves as a pivotal part of the narrative, showcasing its vibrant colour, contrasting culture, and diverse communities. The film's producer, Thunder Road Films, saw the opportunity to showcase the city authentically, and the filming was seen as a rare opportunity by director of photography Kubena.

Academy Award-winning Production Designer, Colin Gibson, worked on the film to create unique and genre-defining sets. Gibson aimed to find new references and avoid repetition in the design of the sets for "24 Hours to Live".

The film is penned by Zachary Dean and based on an original script by Ron Mita & Jim McClain. The producers of "24 Hours to Live" gave Smrz significant creative freedom to make the movie he wanted. This collaboration resulted in a film that carefully balances the action element with the human story of Ethan Hawke's character's personal journey.

Producer Kuyper believes that Brian Smrz is long overdue to move into the role of director and is excited to launch him as a First Unit director. The reputation of "24 Hours to Live" and the talent of its cast and crew have generated excitement among audiences and industry professionals alike.

In "24 Hours to Live", Travis Conrad's story revolves around his quest for redemption after being temporarily brought back to life by Red Mountain's experimental medical procedure.
