Previously indicted for series of crimes committed on the palliative care unit of a clinic in Wuerselen, the 44-year-old nurse is now suspected of the deaths of four additional patients and attempting to murder nine more. The Regional Court of Aachen has received a supplementary indictment regarding these accusations, as confirmed by a court spokeswoman.

This brings the total number of alleged murders to nine and attempted murders to 34, all said to have been carried out during the same timeframe. The deadly acts reportedly involved overdosing victims with painkillers or sedatives.

The public prosecutor believes the motives were deplorable, with a desire for peaceful night shifts and reduced patient effort being the primary motive. In some cases, it's been alleged that the nurse attempted multiple times to end his patients' lives. With a total of 26 injured parties, the crimes are said to have taken place between December 2023 and May 2024.

The trial for the initially accused 30 cases begins on March 24 at the Regional Court of Aachen. These charges include five murders and 25 attempted murders. As of now, it hasn't been determined whether the supplementary cases will be tried alongside these.
