Rúrik Gíslason, the charismatic Icelander, graced the Saturday-1 show "Stars in the Arena" with his presence, determined to showcase his acrobatic skills to the German audience. Regrettably, things took an unexpected turn during rehearsals for an awe-inspiring act towards the end of December. Injury struck just a few days before the recording, leaving him with a broken hand.

Missing the initial shock of the broken bone by an inch, Gíslason recalls the incident vividly, "I broke my hand during training. There's a video of it, and let me tell you, you can hear the crack with unmistakable clarity." As he spoke, Gíslason was still dealing with the discomfort, "It's painful to squeeze my hand, but thankfully, thanks to a splint, I'm managing alright," he admitted.

Despite the setback, Gíslason, a former footballer and a TV sensation who claimed the victory of "Let's Dance" in 2021, decided not to throw in the towel. Gathering his wits and his exceptional team, they devised a plan B, leaving behind the initial idea of hand-to-hand acrobatics.

"At first, I thought my journey had come to an end, but my resilient team and I had something else in mind," shared Gíslason. The new act, still a secret, would be his way of proving his unwavering will and endurance.

"I won't back down, I'm far from being a quitter, and I want to continue inspiring people. I don't want sympathy, but I want the audience to appreciate the efforts I'm putting in," said Gíslason. His intention was clear - to create a lasting impression, making the circus audience and TV viewers happy and amazed by his performance.

Gíslason, alongside other celebrities such as Sarah Harrison, Michael Mittermeier, Cheyenne Pahde, Paul Janke, Hardy Krüger Jr., Jeannine Michaelsen, Fernanda Brandao, will share the circus ring at Circus Krone in the "Stars in der Manege" show on January 2 at 8:15 pm. This season will see a total of four primetime shows featuring 32 celebrities.

While the fateful incident was certainly a blow, Rúrik Gíslason is still committed to his art, aimed and determined to inspire the audience with his resilience and unmatched acrobatic skills. With the circus ring as his playground, viewers can expect a magical display of talent and indomitable spirit in the upcoming episode of "Stars in der Manege."
