"He admitted he wouldn't have caused harm if he had been aware of her pregnancy."
In a shocking turn of events, Arman Jetpisov, a 38-year-old man with a criminal record and no stable job, has been found guilty of the murder of Bibigul Shpanova, the head of the oil department of NCOC. The supreme court sentenced Jetpisov to life imprisonment, to be served in a maximum security facility.
The crime, which took place on April 29, was a heinous act of violence. Jetpisov went to Shpanova's apartments under the pretext of paperwork, attacked her, inflicted multiple stab wounds, raped her, stole her phone, money, and valuable items, then drove off in her car, causing an accident.
The court in the Arman Jetpisov case based its judgments regarding the murder on evidence of intent, premeditation, and the defendant's direct involvement in the crime. The court's verdict was also supported by witness testimonies, victim statements, expert findings, video recordings, protocols of the crime scene inspection, and material evidence.
Jetpisov was charged with fraud, rape, theft, car theft, and the murder of a pregnant woman. The total material damage from the incident was over 13 million tenge. Compensation for both material and moral damages has been awarded to the victim's family.
It was previously reported that Bibigul Shpanova was involved in the implementation of large-scale national projects, including the development of the Kashagan field. Shpanova died in her own apartments, and Jetpisov expressed no genuine remorse or regret for his actions during the trial.
Interestingly, Jetpisov posed as a repair master and gained the trust of residents in a residential complex where Shpanova lived. In 2022, he received 400,000 tenge from Shpanova for help in purchasing a parking spot at a discount, but he did not provide the parking spot and pocketed the money.
The court found no mitigating circumstances but considered alcohol influence as an aggravating factor. The court's decision is not yet final, but the sentence will be served in a maximum security facility.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety and vigilance, especially when dealing with unknown individuals. Our thoughts are with Bibigul Shpanova's family and friends during this difficult time.
