HC Davos extends league lead as Ambri-Piotta ends losing streak in shootout thriller

The Swiss National League witnessed key results over the weekend, with HC Davos extending their dominance at the top. Meanwhile, HC Ambri-Piotta snapped a losing streak in dramatic fashion, and Biel secured a vital away win to boost their play-in hopes.

One standout performance came from Ambri-Piotta’s Philipp Wüthrich, who made his first away appearance since joining the club in early January 2026.

HC Davos continued their strong season with a convincing 5:1 victory over Lausanne. The win stretched their lead to 13 points over second-placed Fribourg-Gottéron, reinforcing their position at the summit.

In Bern, Ambri-Piotta edged out SC Bern 1:0 in a tense shootout. Goalkeeper Philipp Wüthrich was the hero, stopping all 46 shots he faced and denying every attempt in the shootout. The result marked Ambri-Piotta’s first away win in six matches, ending a difficult run on the road. Elsewhere, Biel claimed a hard-fought 2:1 win against Ajoie. Lias Andersson netted the decisive goal, while Harri Säteri kept a clean sheet in the second half. The victory proved crucial in Biel’s push for a play-in spot.

Davos remain firmly in control of the league, while Ambri-Piotta’s shootout triumph provided a much-needed confidence boost. Biel’s narrow win also keeps their post-season ambitions alive. The results set up an intriguing phase as teams battle for positioning in the coming weeks.
