Bergischer HC Struggles in First Half Against VfL, Prepares for Challenging Matches Ahead

The Bergischer HC (BHC) faced a tough challenge in their recent match against VfL, with the 5:1 defensive variant proving to be a formidable opponent. The BHC struggled to maintain possession and missed several shots in the first half. However, they managed to improve before the break, creating numerous chances despite failing to convert many of them.

Despite the setback, the BHC has a busy schedule ahead. Their upcoming games include a match against a team from a different league, HSG Wetzlar, as well as a 2nd league team, TuS Ferndorf, and a 1st league team, TSG A-H Bielefeld. The BHC will play three games in a row, starting from August 9th.

Sören Steinhaus, who scored five goals in his debut for the BHC, was a standout player in the match against VfL, making him the team's top scorer. Lars Kooij and Nico Schöttle also scored their first goals for the BHC. Coach Markus Pütz was pleased with the performance of these players, along with Steinhaus.

Pütz was partly satisfied with the BHC's performance against VfL, but acknowledged that there are still many tasks ahead. He noted that the defensive performance was good at times, but the physicality was different from the 2nd league, making the test against a team from a different league important for learning.

The BHC will play TuS Ferndorf on August 9th at 16:30 in the Sporthalle Nocken in Wuppertal-Vohwinkel. Their next opponent after TuS Ferndorf is HSG Wetzlar, with the match scheduled for August 13th at 18:00. The BHC will start as clear favourites against TSG A-H Bielefeld in their first competitive game, which will take place on August 16th at 18:00.

Pütz was also satisfied with the creation of chances, but noted that missing them played into the VfL's hands. He will be hoping for a better conversion rate in the upcoming matches as the BHC looks to bounce back from their defeat against VfL.

Building on the challenging first half performance against VfL, Sören Steinhaus, Lars Kooij, and Nico Schöttle will aim to deliver again when the BHC takes to the ice for their upcoming sports games. The hockey team, preparing for matches against TuS Ferndorf, HSG Wetzlar, and TSG A-H Bielefeld, will look to improve their shot conversion rate to secure victories.
