Alleged Bullying Problem on Set - HBO's Harry Potter series faces bullying scandal before filming even begins

HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series, starring Dominic McLaughlin as young Harry Potter, has faced early controversy after reports of bullying among young cast members. Production executives have now introduced strict measures to tackle the issue, including clear behavioural rules and immediate dismissals for offenders. The show, set to begin filming at Leavesden Studios, will also feature a newly built on-site school for its child actors.

Filming for the series is underway at Leavesden Studios near London, the same location used for the original Harry Potter films. The production has already cast key roles, with John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, and Nick Frost as Hagrid. The first season is expected to premiere in early 2027, with an eight-year filming schedule planned.

Allegations of bullying emerged after two 12-year-old extras were reportedly involved in a physical altercation. One child allegedly threatened the other, raising concerns about the working environment for underage cast members. In response, the production team has implemented strict behavioural guidelines and pledged to remove anyone found guilty of bullying, regardless of their status.

To support the young actors, a dedicated school has been constructed on set. This ensures their education continues uninterrupted during the lengthy production period.

The series aims to maintain a safe and professional environment for its cast, particularly its younger members. With filming set to span nearly a decade, the production's new policies will remain in place to prevent further incidents. The first season remains on track for release in 2027.
