HBO Max reveals the much-anticipated launch date for streaming Superman
In an exciting development for DC Universe fans, HBO Max is set to feature an in-app takeover, transforming the user experience with a unique Superman-themed homepage. This marks the beginning of the new DC Universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The takeover includes a Daily Planet homepage, a fan-focused Fortress of Solitude page, and portals into Lex Luthor's Pocket Prison, providing an immersive experience for viewers.
The Man of Steel himself, Superman, will make his debut on HBO Max on September 19, 2025. The film, directed by Gunn and starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent, has been receiving widespread praise for its cast, which also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Superman's success indicates a promising future for the DCU, with the film grossing over $615 million worldwide against a budget of $225 million, as of July 11.
The success of Superman also paves the way for future instalments. One such film is 'Man of Tomorrow,' a sequel scheduled for release on July 9, 2027. Nicholas Hoult reprises his role as Lex Luthor in this next chapter of the Superman Saga.
In the meantime, HBO Max subscribers can get a sneak peek of Superman on the homepage, with a television picture of the Man of Steel under the 'Watch Friday' banner. David Corenswet, the actor behind the iconic character, recently posted a selfie with this very image on his Instagram, a nod to Eve Teschmacher, a character played by Sara Sampaio in Superman.
As the DC Universe continues to grow, Superman serves as a strong foundation. With its engaging storyline, captivating performances, and immersive user experience on HBO Max, fans can look forward to an exciting journey ahead.
