Hazard alert extended as poor weather traps emissions in Siberian cities
A first-degree hazard alert remains in force across several regions due to adverse weather conditions. Authorities have extended the special regime in Krasnoyarsk, Lesosibirsk, Achinsk, and Nazarovo, with inspectors actively monitoring emissions violations. The measures come as poor meteorological conditions persist in the area.
The alert in Krasnoyarsk will now last over eight days, with unfavourable weather expected until midnight on January 24. Nearby, Lesosibirsk will maintain its special regime until 07:00 on January 25. Achinsk and Nazarovo will follow similar restrictions, though theirs will end earlier, at 19:00 on January 24.
Environmental inspectors have intensified checks to detect and address any breaches in emissions rules. Meanwhile, Bodrum in Turkey will keep its own special measures the longest, remaining in place until January 25, 2026, due to heavy rainfall and flooding risks.
The extended alerts mean stricter oversight and continued restrictions in affected areas. Residents and businesses must comply with emissions regulations until conditions improve. Authorities will reassess the situation as the deadlines approach.
