In a thrilling encounter in the Ligue féminine de football professionnel (LFFP Cup), Le Havre secured their first victory of the season, leaving Olympique de Marseille women's team, recently renamed Les Marseillaises, to taste their first defeat.

The match, which resumed on Friday evening in Martigues, saw Le Havre take an early lead in the 4th minute, capitalising on a corner kick. The goal was scored by 20-year-old Celestine Boisard, who found herself unmarked at the second post.

Les Marseillaises responded before half-time, with Mathilde Bourdieu converting a penalty to reduce the deficit to 1-2. However, despite a late chance, Marseille were unable to equalise, leaving Le Havre to celebrate their hard-earned win.

The second half was a tense affair, with both teams creating opportunities. Effa Effa, a young talent for Le Havre, came close to extending their lead with a curled shot that hit the crossbar in the 56th minute. Le Havre were awarded a penalty in the second half, but Marseille's goalkeeper, Margot Shore, and the post combined to deny them.

Bourdieu, who has been in fine form this season, scored a double against Montpellier in the League Cup, and nearly added to her tally at the end of the match, but was denied by a nice pass from Jenny Perret.

Christophe Parra, the current coach of Les Marseillaises, will be looking for a response from his team as they prepare for their next fixture. The defeat marks a disappointing start to the season for Les Marseillaises, who had previously lost to OL Lyon (1-3) and drawn their opening match against Strasbourg (2-2).

Despite the loss, Les Marseillaises will be encouraged by the performance of Bourdieu, who has shown her quality in front of goal this season, and will be hoping to bounce back in their next match.
