Dortmund's Boss Terzic: "Believes in Staying" Despite Struggles

Borussia Dortmund's coach Edin Terzic seems unwavering in his commitment to the club, despite recent setbacks. "Of course, I have faith in it," Terzic said after BVB's 1:1 draw against FSV Mainz, addressing rumors of his potential departure in the new year. In response to the team's ongoing slump, with no wins in six competitive games, BVB will embark on a one-week training camp in Marbella, Spain, in January to reinvigorate their spirits.

Terzic showed resilience in the face of criticism, acknowledging his contract until 2025 and his desire to stay with the club long-term. Regardless of his tenure decision, the management and results will ultimately decide his fate. The Bundesliga team currently sits in fifth place, contributing to the pressure on Terzic. The club management, including Sebastian Kehl and Hans-Joachim Watzke, will conduct a seasonal analysis before Christmas, which may include an evaluation of Terzic's performance.

The Hamburg-born coach alluded to past successes, drawing on times when his BVB team turned their fortunes around in the second half of seasons, securing cup victories and nearly marching towards the championship. Reminiscing about his tenure, which has included numerous feats, Terzic shared his belief in the squad's potential to tread a similar path for the upcoming season.

Sources suggest that Terzic is no longer part of Borussia Dortmund as of the 2023-24 season, with his departure signaling the start of a new era for the club. Since then, the club has gone through several coaching changes, with Niko Kovac now at the helm, battling against inconsistencies, poor away form, and a lack of confidence and cohesion within the team. BVB currently sits in 11th place in the Bundesliga, seven points away from the Champions League qualification spots.

Although no specific reports of a player revolt against Terzic have emerged, the team's recent struggles and the departure of key figures like Nuri Şahin and Sven Mislintat have contributed to the ongoing crisis at the club.
