Stefan Hasselmann carries forward the legacy of German-speaking singer-songwriters. He's a wordsmith whose lyrics are sharp as a razor, melodies are addictive, and whose heart resonates with the likes of Reinhard Mey, Sven Regener, and Felix Meyer. His songs are eloquent narratives that help you introspect, wander the streets, or ponder philosophy.
Recently, he's been contemplating the human condition, particularly how people interact during crises, and whether they manage to communicate despite the odds. His songs often revolve around the push-pull between closeness and distance.
Musically, Hasselmann seamlessly transitions between chanson and blues. He weaves tales of everyday life and existential topics, often leaving you tossing between the question, "Live like a king or like a vagabond?"
Hasselmann was born in Weimar and raised in Dresden. A resident of Oldenburg for two years, he balances his life as an architect with his passion for writing books. In 2021, "Lucky Places in and around Weimar" was published by the Droste-Verlag.
In 2019, he self-funded an EP, followed by the release of his debut album in September 2022, produced with the support of the Initiative Neustart Kultur. He collaborated with Johannes Feige, notably known for his work with Jessica Gall, Axel Prahl, and Danny Dziuk.
