Haryana Police Arrests Travel Blogger Jyoti Malhotra

In a shocking turn of events, the Haryana Police arrested Jyoti Malhotra, a popular travel blogger known for her YouTube channel 'Travel with Jo' and a massive following on Instagram, for allegedly spying for Pakistani intelligence agencies. The arrest came during Operation Sindoor, spearheaded by the Haryana Police, following the discovery of her sharing "sensitive information" with Pakistani officials.

Malhotra, who has over 3.77 lakh subscribers on YouTube and boasts more than 1.32 lakh followers on Instagram, was detained from the New Aggarwal Extension area in Hisar. Authorities believe her posting content from her recent trips to Pakistan on social media in March and April was part of a broader effort to promote a positive image of Pakistan under the guidance of Pakistani handlers.

Malhotra's Undercover Escapades

Investigations have revealed that Malhotra's ties with Pakistani intelligence agencies date back to 2023 when she first approached the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi to apply for a visitor visa. This action led to an encounter with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a staff member at the Pakistan High Commission, who acted as her handler.

Over time, Malhotra became acquainted with other Pakistani Intelligence Operatives (PIOs), such as Ali Ahwan, Shakir, and Rana Shahbaz. She maintained contact with these operatives via encrypted communication platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. Besides sharing sensitive information about Indian locations, Malhotra was used as a means to paint a positive image of Pakistan on social media.

Enter the Web of Suspects

The investigation uncovered a larger network of individuals involved in the case, with Malhotra being just one piece of the puzzle. Guzala, a 32-year-old widow from Punjab's Malerkotla, visited the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi on February 27, seeking a visa, and later became part of the espionage network. Other suspects include Yameen Mohd, Devinder Singh Dhillon, and Arman, all resident in Punjab and Haryana.

Recent Developments in the Case

This arrest comes hot on the heels of another individual, 24-year-old Nauman Elahi from Uttar Pradesh, who was arrested in Panipat for allegedly leaking sensitive information to Pakistani agents in May 2025.

The Indian government declared Danish persona non grata on May 13 and ordered his immediate expulsion from the country as part of Operation Sindoor. As the investigation continues, more details about this intricate web of espionage are expected to surface.
