Harsh weather conditions approaching in the region of Harz!

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a windy forecast warning for the Harz region on Tuesday, September 16th. According to the DWD, wind gusts in the Harz could reach up to 70 to 80 km/h, with the wind being significantly stronger on the Brocken. In fact, wind speeds of up to 120 km/h could sweep over the Brocken peak, raising concerns of hurricane-force gusts.

The official warning is in effect until the evening, and it extends to the inland areas of Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, and Salzgitter. Meteorological services such as wetter.com and regional weather reports for Lower Saxony have predicted mostly cloudy conditions with possible rain for these areas on Tuesday. The wind is expected to be strong but to calm down later, and the weather is anticipated to improve with some cloud formation potentially bringing showers.

The DWD is urging residents and visitors to avoid forests in the Harz region due to the risk of branches breaking off or even trees being uprooted. On the Brocken, the weather on Tuesday is expected to be particularly challenging, with rain, fog, and wind creating a gray soup, as seen on the Brocken Cam.

However, there is some good news on the horizon. By Friday, September 19th, temperatures will rise, resulting in two more late summer days. The weather forecast predicts a summer comeback by this time, with sun and clouds, and some rain possible. The wind will ease up in these areas on Wednesday, September 17th, paving the way for a day of sun and clouds, with some rain possible.

In conclusion, residents and visitors in the Harz region and the inland areas of Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, and Salzgitter are advised to stay informed and take precautions due to the storm warning. While Tuesday is expected to be challenging, especially on the Brocken, the weather is anticipated to improve by Friday, bringing a brief respite of summer weather.
