Berlin Fire Department Under Investigation for Alleged Right-wing Extremist Content and Bullying Among Trainees

The Berlin Fire Department is currently under investigation following allegations of right-wing extremist content in a chat group and bullying among trainees. The investigation, being conducted by the extremism commissioner and the personnel department, was sparked by a complaint from a parent within the environment of the youth fire department.

According to reports, the incidents are said to be related to a youth fire department in Charlottenburg. The Charlottenburg youth fire department is the one affected by the investigation, but no specific information about affected trainees has been found. The investigation involves messages within a communication between several members, with the details remaining confidential to ensure an independent investigation.

The fire department initially declined to comment on 'further details regarding the course of events or contents' to ensure an unbiased investigation. However, the department's spokesperson confirmed that the investigation is indeed about right-wing extremist content in a chat group as well as bullying.

The 'B.Z.' reported that three young people broke into a station of the professional fire department last week, wearing uniforms of officials and setting off pyrotechnics. As a result, the young people were suspended and received a ban on entry.

The fire department has promised to provide further information as soon as a sound result of the investigation is available. In the meantime, the department stands firm in its commitment to a respectful, open, and diverse coexistence, condemning statements or behaviors that contradict these principles.

It is important to note that the Berlin Fire Department is a large youth organization, with more than 1,000 girls and boys aged 8 to 19 belonging to it, making it one of the largest youth organizations in the capital.

As the investigation continues, the fire department is preparing further steps, which will involve external parties alongside the extremism commissioner. The department is working diligently to address these allegations and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all its members.

Stay tuned for more updates as the investigation progresses.
