In an exciting development for Harry Potter fans worldwide, Dominic McLaughlin has been announced as the new Harry Potter in the highly-anticipated HBO series set to premiere in 2027. The series, which will also be available on HBO Max, aims for a decade-long, seven-season faithful retelling of J.K. Rowling's beloved books.
McLaughlin, who was chosen from an impressive pool of over 30,000 actors, will embody the iconic character visually and in spirit, resembling the classic look made famous by Daniel Radcliffe in the original films. His portrayal of Harry Potter is expected to be carefully aligned with the original depiction, while offering a unique interpretation for this new adaptation.
The casting of McLaughlin marks just one of many exciting announcements for the series. John Lithgow will portray headmaster Albus Dumbledore, while Anton Lesser will play Garrick Ollivander, the owner of the "Ollivanders" wand shop. Rory Wilmot has been cast as Neville Longbottom, and Singer and actor Johnny Flynn will play Lucius Malfoy.
Joining the cast are a host of talented actors taking on roles such as Professor McGonagall (Janet McTeer), Madam Rolanda Hooch (Louise Brealey), Argus Filch (Paul Whitehouse), and the new Hermione Granger (Arabella Stanton). Lox Pratt will bring Draco Malfoy to life, and Amos Kitson will play Harry Potter's cousin Dudley Dursley. Paapa Essiedu will take on the role of teacher Severus Snape, and Nick Frost has been cast as Rubeus Hagrid.
The first image of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter has already been released, showing him in his Gryffindor robes, round glasses, and lightning bolt scar. The Hogwarts school uniform remains largely unchanged, featuring a black robe, waistcoat, white shirt, and Gryffindor-colored tie.

I'm not going to be able to make it to the premier of the new Harry Potter series on HBO Max, as I'd rather stay at home and catch up on some movies-and-tv shows instead, since the entertainment options are vast these days.
