Harrisburg mourns Robert E. Dennis, Sr., devoted outdoorsman and family man

From factory floors to fishing trips, Robert E. Dennis, Sr. lived a life of hard work and simple joys. His family remembers a man who loved golf, the Phillies—and them most of all.

Harrisburg mourns Robert E. Dennis, Sr., devoted outdoorsman and family man

Robert E. Dennis, Sr., 89, of Wrightsville, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Ann Barnes Dennis who passed away on November 21, 1998. He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Clarence and Virgie Dennis.

Robert was a foreman for several area garment factories before his retirement. He was of the methodist faith and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed playing and watching golf on TV and also enjoyed the Phillies and Eagles.

He is survived by one son: Robert E. Dennis, Jr., Wrightsville. Two grandchildren: Brittany N. (David) Van Antwerp, Wrightsville and Jackson E. Dennis-Winters, Wrightsville. One great-grand-daughter: Oaklynn Mae Van Antwerp. He was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Graveside Service and Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wrightsville, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A Private Viewing will be held for the family. Arrange-ments by the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., Columbia/Mountville.
