The demo was the culmination of a farmers' action week that included earlier blockades from Harburg to Hamburg.

Farmers, along with craftsmen and logistics companies, united for the protest. They demonstrated against decisions by the traffic light government to remove fuel tax relief for farmers. The demo route started at Großmoordamm, passed through Wilhelmsburg and Binnenhafen, and ended at Knoopstraße. The event caused significant delays for car drivers and substantially disrupted bus traffic throughout the city center.

Organizers of the demonstration remain unidentified, as searches did not reveal any information about the responsible association or group.
