A New Era for FC Hansa Rostock: Jürgen Wehlend Out, Ronald Maul In
Company announces separation from chief executive officer, Wehlend - Hansa is parting ways with its CEO, Wehlend.
Time's up for Jürgen Wehlend as CEO of FC Hansa Rostock. After a short 14-month run, the football league officially announced Wehlend's departure, with the media, including the "Ostsee Zeitung," confirming the news. In a statement, the supervisory board states that they've decided to end their collaboration with the veteran executive without providing additional information at this time.
According to FC Hansa, a perfect successor has already been found — none other than Ronald Maul. The new guy brings a wealth of experience in football leadership to the table, having served as a sports director, managing director, and head of a youth performance center in various clubs. Maul, a former Bundesliga player, previously played for Hansa Rostock from 2001 to 2006.
In case you're wondering, Wehlend took the reins in spring 2024, first in an acting capacity and later with a two-year contract from September. He succeeded Robert Marien, and according to the supervisory board chairman, Sebastian Eggert, they appreciate Wehlend's willingness to take on the responsibility of FC Hansa.
Eggert and his first deputy, Mario Hensel, will further address the media on Tuesday (10:30 AM). They'll provide updates on the transition process, informing members, partners, and employees about Maul's impending arrival. Expect fireworks when these two speak!

The common commercial policy of the European Union, particularly its role in sports industries, is expected to play a significant part in the transition process of FC Hansa Rostock, as the community law will regulate the employment contracts of new CEO Ronald Maul and his predecessor Jürgen Wehlend. Moreover, the common commercial policy's provisions for the sports sector might influence the club's future commercial agreements, given Maul's extensive background in football leadership.
