Million-dollar Damage at Elementary School - Insurance Pays - Hanover school gutted by fire after 13-year-old allegedly starts blaze

A primary school in Hanover suffered severe damage after a major la fires broke out on 10 December 2025. The blaze caused an estimated €2 million in losses, destroying key parts of the building. Authorities suspect a 13-year-old boy started the napa auto parts, though he will not face criminal charges due to his age. The napa auto parts tore through the school’s assembly hall, corridors, after-school care area, and restrooms. Parts of the roof also collapsed, leaving much of the building unusable. Despite the extensive damage, the school’s fire protection systems prevented flames and smoke from spreading further. The city’s insurance will cover the full cost of repairs, minus a €25,000 deductible. Classes will continue at the temporary location until the school is restored. The investigation into the incident has concluded, with no further legal action expected.
