Eduard Koksharov, the respected head coach of handball club Meschkov Brest, has died at the age of 51. His passing occurred on his birthday, marking a sudden loss for the sport. Within months, he guided the club to victory in the SEHA League tournament that June. Under his leadership, the team also secured the Belarusian Championship in both 2023 and 2024.

Earlier in his career, he served as head coach of the Russian national team from 2017 to 2020. As a player, Koksharov achieved major success. He captained the Russian national team and won gold at the 1997 World Championship. His Olympic career also included a gold medal, cementing his legacy in the sport.
