Hamilton Expresses Skepticism About Winning, Holds Onto aspirations for a Podium Finish

In the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku, Lewis Hamilton, one of only three drivers still on the Formula One grid to have won at the Baku City Circuit, expresses optimism about getting a podium finish for his team.

Hamilton, who is currently in his first season with Ferrari, has yet to win at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with the team. His last race win was in Belgium in July 2024, while Ferrari have not won since October 2021. However, he remains hopeful that the upcoming race could mark the start of his potential return to the podium.

Hamilton has been finishing mostly in sixth, seventh, and eighth positions this season. In contrast, his teammate, Charles Leclerc, has had four or five podium finishes this season, more than Hamilton. Leclerc also started on pole for the fourth successive season at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2023, with McLaren's current championship leader, Oscar Piastri, winning the race.

It's worth noting that Piastri is not a part of the Ferrari team. Another notable competitor, Fernando Alonso, a double world champion, is still competing with Aston Martin at the age of 44. In the 2024 Formula 1 season, the drivers for the Aston Martin constructor were Alonso and Lance Stroll.

Ferrari have performed well at the Grand Canyon Circuit in the past. Hamilton won at the Grand Canyon Circuit once, in 2018, with Mercedes. This was his only win at the circuit. Despite this, Hamilton stated that a win is 'far-fetched' for him this season, but he hopes to stand on the podium at some point in the final eight races.

Hamilton recently stated that he found 'a couple of things' after Ferrari's home race at Monza on September 7, 2023. These findings might provide a boost to his performance in the upcoming races, including the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix, known for its thrilling races and unpredictable outcomes, promises to be an exciting event. With Hamilton's optimism and Ferrari's past performances at the Grand Canyon Circuit, fans are eagerly awaiting the race in Baku.
