Hamilton expresses his increasing interest in art over automobiles following F1 event in Baku
Lewis Hamilton Shifts Focus, Aims for Podium Finish at 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Seven-time Formula One world champion, Lewis Hamilton, has made a significant change in his lifestyle, selling his entire car collection and expressing a newfound interest in art. The British racing driver, who is currently not with Red Bull Racing, was photographed standing next to a Ferrari F40 at Ferrari's Fiorano test track, hinting at his admiration for the iconic vehicle.
Hamilton's car collection, which included limited edition Ferraris, Mercedes, and McLarens, has been sold. The specific artworks he has acquired since then have not been publicly detailed, but Hamilton has expressed a general admiration for art and aesthetics, viewing the Ferrari F40 as a piece of art rather than just a vehicle.
The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025 is taking place this weekend in Baku, and Hamilton is optimistic about his chances. He has won at Baku's City Circuit in 2018 with Mercedes, but suffered his first year without a win in 2022 and had another blank in 2023.
Hamilton has found a couple of things after Ferrari's home race at Monza on 7 September, and he hopes that this weekend can be the start of improvements. He expressed hopes of standing on the podium at some point in the final eight races of the season, but a first win for Ferrari this season seems "far-fetched".
In 2022, Charles Leclerc started on pole for the fourth successive season at Baku's City Circuit, and Oscar Piastri won the race. Hamilton is one of only three drivers still on the Formula One grid to have won at Baku's City Circuit.
Hamilton, a vegan and an outspoken advocate for environmental issues, no longer owns any cars and drives an electric Mercedes EQC. He had already sold his private jet and some of his car collection before the recent sale.
Despite his focus on art, Hamilton's passion for racing remains. If he were to get a car, he would choose the Ferrari F40. The Formula 1 season has been challenging for Hamilton, but he is determined to end it on a high note. The 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix promises to be an exciting event, with Hamilton aiming to make a strong comeback.
