Hamburg is exploring the possibility of hosting the Olympic Games in 2036, 2040, or 2044. The city has been gathering public input to shape its bid, with thousands of residents already sharing their views on the plans.

Over 3,000 people have taken part in discussions about Hamburg’s Olympic ambitions. They joined citizen dialogues, participation forums, and online consultations to learn about the bid. Around 800 written responses were also submitted during the process.

The feedback covered key themes like sustainability, social inclusion, cultural programming, and accessibility. These suggestions are now being worked into the city’s bid concept. From June, the Hamburg Olympic Bid Committee, along with city authorities and the Senate, will review the finalised concept. Their assessment will determine the next steps for the proposal.

The public engagement phase has given residents a direct role in shaping the bid. Their input will influence whether Hamburg moves forward with its Olympic plans. A decision on the city’s candidacy is expected after the review period.
