Hamburg Clubs Dominate Sailing Bundesliga Midway Through Season

Hey there, let's talk sailing! The Sailing Bundesliga is cruising towards the summer break with two Hamburg teams in the lead after three of six league regattas in its 13th season. The Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (NRV) on the Alster and Mühlenberger Segel-Club (MSC) on the Elbe are battling it out for the top spot.

Skipper Tobias Schadewaldt of the NRV, a 2012 Olympic eleventh-place finisher and the most successful league skipper of his club, celebrated his comeback after a 1.5-year baby break with a victory over the Pfingst weekend on the Kieler Inner Fjord. The seven-time record champions from the NRV show no signs of slowing down, securing their second consecutive league victory over the Pfingst weekend in Kiel.

The defending champions from MSC, who won the German Sailing Club Championship for the first time last year, currently trail behind the strong Alster rivals by five points, having come in fourth before Kiel.

After a short break, the second half of the season will kick off from August 8 to November 1 with three more regattas in Berlin. The DSL Cup will be sailed on November 8 and 9 at the Berliner Yacht-Club on the Wannsee.
