Germany's Men's Hockey Team Prepares for EuroHockey Championships Final

Justus Weigand, a prolific scorer from Mannheim HC, has signed with Polo Club until summer 2028, marking a significant addition to the team. Weigand, who recently scored two crucial goals in the final phase of the match against England, will now call Jenischstraße his home ground.

Weigand's current focus is the Euro Championship, where Germany's men's team is currently leading as the finalist. The team has already qualified for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup by reaching the final, setting them up for a challenging match against the Netherlands in the final match of the tournament.

Germany's journey in the tournament pool phase was marked by strong performances. They topped Pool B with a stellar record, including a commanding 10-0 victory against Poland and a comeback win against France. They then defeated Spain 4-1 in the semi-final to secure their spot in the final.

The team's minimum goal, if we refer to their qualification objective, has already been achieved. By reaching the final, they secured the direct qualification slot available from Europe for the 2026 Hockey World Cup, as the Netherlands, their final opponent, already qualifies as hosts.

Meanwhile, Germany's women's hockey team will face top favourite and Olympic champion Netherlands on Monday at 8:30 PM on MagentaSport. The match against England ended in a draw (1:1).

In other news, Bennet Ness, son of former national player Freddy Ness, will return to Polo Club. Polo Club has also signed national goalkeeper for Hamburg.

Weigand believes that having won the first game can still be very important for the rest of the tournament. His winning goal in Germany's opening match of the Euro Championship set the tone for their successful run. Joshua Onyekwue Nnaji, goalkeeper of the German U-21 World Cup winners, will join Polo Club from champions CHTC.

In the women's match against France, Lena Micheel from Großflottbeker THGC scored the interim 3:0 goal. Gonzalo Peillat secured at least a point for the world champions with a successful penalty corner in the match against England. Germany's women's team won their Euro Championship opener 4:1 against France.

Weigand will study International Management at the Kühn Logistics University. His girlfriend, who has been studying in Frankfurt, finds good conditions in the Hanseatic city. Nnaji narrowly missed out on EM nomination.

The upcoming match for Germany is the final against the Netherlands in the EuroHockey Championships. The match against Poland is scheduled for Tuesday at 7:30 PM on MagentaSport.

Justus Weigand, with his expertise in hockey, is essential for Germany's Men's Hockey Team in the approaching final of the EuroHockey Championships, as he has demonstrated his scoring prowess in critical moments, such as the recent goals against England.

As the tournament progresses, Weigand's winning goal in the opening match remains significant, instilling confidence and setting a powerful tone for the team's subsequent victories.
