Boasting two ambulances crewed entirely by volunteers and a mobile emergency doctor's vehicle, this district ensures that our lifesavers are always on call, ready to spring into action when needed throughout the year. As a result, they lend a helping hand in all sorts of emergencies, not just water-related ones!
"The surge in DLRG teams intervening outside the water is quite evident," a DLRG spokesperson shared with the German Press Agency, from the heart of Hamburg.
Now, you might be wondering, 'But what about the poor souls who drowned?' I'm sorry to say, the statistics show that 14 lives were tragically lost in our rivers and lakes in 2024. The Elbe, infamous for its ever-shifting currents and destructive suction created by massive sea vessels, claimed the most victims.
