The Gaza Strip, a small coastal region sandwiched between Israel and Egypt on the Mediterranean Sea, has been the epicentre of a prolonged conflict. This conflict escalated significantly on October 7, 2023, when Hamas, a Palestinian organization controlling the lives of over 2 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, launched an attack against Israel.

The attack resulted in the tragic loss of 1,200 lives and the kidnapping of over 200 people, according to reports. Israel swiftly accused Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, of planning this terror attack. Sinwar, a native of Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip, went into hiding underground in the Gaza Strip following the attack. He was later found and killed by Israeli soldiers.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, expressed hope for an end to the war in the Gaza Strip. However, the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that their goal was to eliminate Sinwar, but the war was not yet over.

Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip have been met with criticism, with the United Nations reporting that many tens of thousands of people have been killed by Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023. Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip, which restricts the entry of food and medicine, has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, causing many Palestinians to face starvation and death.

It's important to note that Hezbollah, an Islamist organization from Lebanon with representatives in the Lebanese parliament, is also involved in this conflict. Hezbollah is considered a terrorist organization by the USA and Israel and has been accused of carrying out attacks against Israel. Hezbollah receives financial support from Iran and uses the funds to pay for hospitals and schools.

Despite the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, Israel is not only fighting against Hamas but also against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The President of the USA, Joe Biden, welcomed the killing of Sinwar and stated that Hamas is no longer capable of carrying out an attack like the one on October 7.

However, the conflict in the Gaza Strip continues, with both sides showing no signs of backing down. The international community must work towards finding a peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict and ensuring the safety and well-being of all those affected.
