Hamas keen on resuming ceasefire negotiations: Egypt

The ongoing Gaza ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas are being led by key mediators Egypt, Qatar, and the United States. The US envoy Steve Witkoff has played a significant role in the process, proposing a comprehensive two-stage plan for a temporary truce, hostage releases, and further negotiations for a permanent ceasefire and Israeli troop withdrawal [1][2].

The proposed ceasefire, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, is for a duration of 60 days. The ceasefire proposal was initially drafted by mediators from these three parties and presented by then-U.S. President Joe Biden [2].

On Tuesday, a Hamas delegation arrived in Cairo for talks regarding de-escalation efforts in Gaza. The talks will take place with Egypt's intelligence chief, Hassan Rashad. Hamas has affirmed its commitment to quickly returning to cease-fire and de-escalation negotiations [1].

Egypt is working diligently to secure the ceasefire, and is also making efforts to deliver aid into Gaza. The ceasefire negotiations are taking place in Cairo, with Egypt intensifying its contacts with all parties to reach a truce.

In a recent development, it was reported that Israel's Security Cabinet approved a plan for the full reoccupation of the Gaza Strip last week. However, the cease-fire proposal represents a renewed push to halt Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip [1].
