Halsey allegedly missed out on a role in Ryan Coogler's anticipated film, 'Sinners'.
In an intriguing revelation, pop sensation Halsey fessed up about her audition for Ryan Coogler's smash hit movie, Sinners. This 2025 flick, featuring Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, was a runaway success with the audiences.
Set in the ominous backdrop of the 1930s Mississippi Delta, Sinners delved into the supernatural horror and the twisted dynamics between the brothers. The film, which garnered a whopping 97% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, raked in over $200 million worldwide.
A curious fact about this box office juggernaut is that Halsey, the "Without Me" singer, had also dived into the script. However, fame and fortune eluded her with the role going to someone else.
During a chat on the In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele podcast, Halsey, the 30-year-old powerhouse, was asked if she had watched the movie. Her response? "Nah, not yet," she casually admitted, before adding, "But I did read the script though. With not many white-passing Black girls making it in Hollywood, I couldn't help but give it a read."
Interestingly, Halsey had been in the running for the role of Mary, the character played by Hailee Steinfeld in the film. However, the singer felt Steinfeld was the perfect fit for the role. After all, she's a damn good actress, isn't she?
