Final Case for Koitzsch and Lehmann in 'Police Call 110' - Halle's Polizeiruf 110 Trilogy Ends with a Chilling Murder Mystery This Sunday
The final episode of the Halle-based Polizeiruf 110 trilogy, titled The Wanderer Departs, airs this Sunday at 8:15 PM on Das Erste. This episode concludes a series that began in May 2021 with By the Saale's Bright Shores. The latest case involves an elderly woman found dead in her bathtub under suspicious circumstances.
The trilogy was created by screenwriter Clemens Meyer and writer-director Thomas Stuber, who previously worked together on all three films. However, their professional relationship has since ended, and no future collaborations are planned.
The investigation starts when the building's caretaker, Henning Peker, notices something unusual about an apartment door. Inside, he discovers the body of an elderly woman submerged in her bathtub. The scene is strangely arranged—coffee, cake, and music surround her, yet signs suggest she was forcibly held under the water.
Chief Inspector Henry Koitzsch and Inspector Michael Lehmann take charge of the case. A key detail emerges: a dried blue flower on the bedroom windowsill, which Koitzsch recognizes from an earlier investigation. This clue points to a possible link with a suspected serial killer who once operated within the former GDR's security apparatus.
Meanwhile, Katrin Sommer, the ex-partner of a victim from the first episode, befriends Rita Schmidtke in a therapy group. Their connection brings new leads, deepening the detectives' understanding of the case.
The trilogy's second episode, The Fat Man Loves, aired in April 2024. While Meyer wrote the scripts and Stuber directed, their creative partnership has since dissolved. The final instalment now brings their collaborative work to a close.
The episode will reveal whether the detectives can solve the case before the killer strikes again. The Wanderer Departs marks the end of the Halle-based Polizeiruf 110 series, wrapping up a storyline that began over three years ago. Viewers can watch the conclusion this Sunday at 8:15 PM on Das Erste.
