Halle's dominance ends as CFC triumphs at home, advancing them further in the competition.
In a thrilling match played at their home stadium, Chemnitz FC secured a crucial 3:0 victory over Hallescher FC, a result that knocks the latter off the top spot in the NOFV-Oberliga.
The game, witnessed by 6358 spectators, was a tense affair from the outset, with Hallescher FC dominating the early stages but failing to find the back of the net. The deadlock was broken in the 30th minute when Johannes Pistol scored the opening goal for Chemnitz.
The Sky Blues, under the guidance of coach Benjamin Duda, continued to impress and extended their winning streak to three games without conceding a goal. Dejan Bozic, a defensive all-rounder for Chemnitzer FC, played a crucial role, assisting on the first goal and scoring the second just before halftime (42.).
The second half saw Chemnitz maintaining their dominance, with Domenico Alberico scoring a classy counter-attack goal in the 83rd minute to secure the 3:0 win. The victory was Chemnitz's third in their last four games and their first against Hallescher FC this season.
However, the celebrations were somewhat marred when Bozic was shown a second yellow card and sent off just before the end, meaning he will miss the clash with Erfurt on Saturday.
The win moves Chemnitz into second place, tied on points with 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig, who are in third place. The current league standings have FC Carl Zeiss Jena in first place with 16 points, followed by SV Babelsberg 03 and Chemnitz FC in second and third place with 13 points each.
Meanwhile, in the Regionalliga Nordost, FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt is currently leading the table with 21 points, while VSG Altglienicke is in fourth place with 18 points. The champion of the NOFV-Oberliga will play two promotion playoffs at the end of the season against the champion of the Regionalliga Bayern, with the winner earning promotion to the 3. Liga.
The race for promotion is heating up, and with each game, the stakes get higher. The next match for Chemnitz will be a crucial one, as they aim to maintain their momentum and challenge for the top spot.
