Hagen Police Crack Down on Unsafe Driving: 43 Speeders, 15 Phone Users, 11 Seat Belt Violations
Hagen police launched a major traffic operation on Monday, September 29, 2025, focusing on violations and unsafe driving. The day-long action resulted in numerous offenses and several arrests.
Checkpoints were strategically placed at Graf-von-Galen-Ring, the rear of the train station, and on Wehringhauser Straße and Eckeseyer Straße. Officers targeted various offenses, including speeding, distracted driving, and seat belt violations.
One notable incident involved a 49-year-old e-scooter rider who attempted to evade officers. The individual was found to be under the influence of intoxicating substances, without a license plate, and uninsured. A blood sample was taken, and further travel was prohibited pending additional charges.
The rider was also found in possession of narcotics, leading to a criminal investigation for violating narcotics and compulsory insurance laws.
Speeding was a significant issue, with 43 drivers caught exceeding the limit. A 22-year-old VW driver was fined €560 and received a two-month driving ban for speeding by 55 km/h. Another driver, aged 21, was fined €260 and received a one-month ban for speeding by 38 km/h.
Other offenses included 10 pedestrians crossing against the red light, 15 drivers using mobile phones, and 11 drivers not wearing seat belts. Two vehicles were also found with lighting system defects.
The Hagen police operation highlighted the importance of safe and responsible driving. With numerous offenses and arrests, it serves as a reminder for drivers to adhere to traffic laws and prioritize safety on the roads.
