Hagen Jeweler's Miraculous Survival After Brutal Attack
Hagen, NRW - Back in October, 58-year-old jeweler Edip Ercosman was taken aback in his apartment for an unexpected and brutal encounter. A masked assailant ruthlessly hit his skull with a metal bar and brandished a firearm.
"I'm still alive," says Ercosman, reminding us of this harrowing incident as he recovers in the hospital. A testament to resilience.
Despite putting up a fierce fight, Ercosman lost consciousness. However, the attacker eventually let go, leaving Ercosman in critical condition. The rescue helicopter was unable to reach him in time, and doctors and paramedics fought tirelessly to save his life. Three times, his heart stopped. The aftermath included craniocerebral trauma, brain hemorrhage, and two fractured fingers. Two weeks spent in the hospital, survival in a coma, and intensive care!

At the time of the incident, Ercosman's sons were at school, and his partner (55) remained at home. She endured minor injuries as a result and was able to later provide vital information to investigators regarding the perpetrator's communication with an accomplice on the street. The sudden noise from the stairwell saw them both fleeing, but unfortunately, three weeks later, there remains no trace of them.

Still Living with Fear

Has he made enemies? "I don't believe I've wronged anyone, I have no idea who they could be." Previously, three burglaries targeting his jewelry store had occurred, with the brutal home invasion being the most disturbing chapter: "I can't continue living like this, what more can happen? I was close to death."
Offering a Reward for Information

In an effort to crack the case, a homicide squad is on duty. The investigators await DNA analysis results. "We are still reliant on witness tips," shares police spokeswoman Ramona Arnhold (34).
The Hagen criminal investigation department welcomes any tips at 02331/9862066.
Despite the October robbery in the Ruhr area being widely covered in the regional news, the individuals responsible for the Hagen goldsmith's attack remain at large, three weeks after the incident.
The police in Hagen continue their investigation in relation to the robbery, offering a reward for any helpful information leading to the capture of the criminals. The brutal home invasion in Hagen, wherein the jeweler was beaten with a metal bar, has now prompted a homicide squad’s involvement in the case. The Goldsmith, now living in constant fear due to past robberies and the recent incident, is eager for justice.
