Haeran Ryu leads Annika tournament as Kai Trump makes LPGA debut

The Annika tournament at Pelican Golf Club in Florida kicked off today, with Haeran Ryu leading the pack after the first round. Meanwhile, Kai Trump, the 18-year-old granddaughter of former President Donald Trump, made her LPGA Tour debut.

Ryu, from South Korea, finished the day with a score of 6-under 64. She had an impressive streak of four consecutive birdies on holes 4 to 7 during her back nine. She is currently tied for third place with Jennifer Kupcho and Charley Hull, who both shot 66.

Defending champion Nelly Korda opened with a 71. Grace Kim of Australia is in second place with a score of 65. Kai Trump, playing in her first LPGA Tour event, struggled with an 83, the highest score in the 108-player field. Trump, daughter of Donald Trump Jr., is ranked 461st in the AJGA Girls' ranking and 979th in the Universal Golf Rankings for juniors. She has previously participated in three AJGA tournaments, with her best result being a second place at a Hurricane Junior Tour event.

The top 60 in the Race to CME Globe will qualify for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship next week. Tomorrow's round will determine who moves on to the next stage of the competition.
