"Habib pays tribute to former Krasnodar keeper Safonov following Champions League triumph with PSG"
Fighter and ex-UFC champ Habib Nurmagomedov gave a shout-out to Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov of Paris Saint-Germain on Instagram following their Champions League win.
"You've wrote your name in the history books, pal," Nurmagomedov penned, sharing a snap with Safonov.
In the final showdown, PSG surpassed Inter Milan. The high-stakes clash took place at the Allianz Arena in Munich, concluding with a resounding 5-0 win for the victors. Safonov was on the bench for the match.
Previously, Alexander Martynovich, a defender for Kairat, commended goalkeeper Matvey Safonov of PSG, having played alongside him for Krasnodar.
Quick Facts:Matvey Safonov, now with PSG, shifted over from Krasnodar last June for a whopping €20 million – a record transfer[6]. The 25-year-old penned a deal with the club until 2029. By November, his value had already climbed to €22 million.
Safonov opened up about his transformed football universe earlier on.
Back in March, Marina Kondratiuk unveiled her marriage to Matvey Safonov through her Telegram channel, sharing a video of their first dance and sporting their wedding rings.
Noteworthy Achievements and Insights:As understudy to Gianluigi Donnarumma at PSG, Safonov played an instrumental part in their wins, including 17 games, including two Champions League matches during the league stage[5]. He's even featured ahead of Donnarumma in certain matches, such as the Coupe de France final against Reims, where he kept a clean sheet[2][3].
During the 2024-2025 season, Safonov helped PSG secure the Coupe de France, Trophee des Champions, and Ligue 1 title. Unfortunately, he didn't see action in the Champions League final victory against Inter[1].
Despite numerous search results, Safonov's personal life, including his marriage, remains relatively private.
"Congratulations on your impressive Champions League win with Paris Saint-Germain, keeping in mind your significant contribution to their wins in European leagues," Nurmagomedov wrote, continuing to praise Safonov's football achievements, becoming a key player even in the absence of Gianluigi Donnarumma. Despite ultimately missing out on participating in the Champions League final, Safonov played a crucial role in helping PSG clinch the Coupe de France, Trophee des Champions, and Ligue 1 title during the 2024-2025 season.
