In the recent Pequea Valley School Board meeting held on September 11, several updates were discussed and approved.

Firstly, the board gave the green light to updates from its work-based learning program, First Choice. The program currently has 42 students participating in internships, co-ops, and independent study opportunities.

The board also addressed an issue that has been affecting athletes during sports competition and practice. A problem with sunlight entering the gymnasium of the new Pequea Valley Secondary School has been reported. To address this, the engineers will propose a solution and discuss it with the school on October 7. The board is considering an indoor tent as a long-term solution.

In other news, the board approved an agreement with Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 for English Language Development services, up to $15,000 this school year.

Twenty-one Pequea Valley students made a notable achievement at the Pennsylvania FFA State Convention, winning top spots in various categories. The PV students will represent Pennsylvania in the agricultural communications category at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis next month. They also placed second in poultry evaluation and will represent the state at The Big E fair in Springfield, Massachusetts, later this month.
