Guwahati Half Marathon 2026 to champion education with ₹2.5 lakh prize pool
The 16th edition of the Guwahati Half Marathon (GHM) is set to take place on April 12, 2026, at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium in Sarusajai. Organised by Techniche, the annual techno-management festival of IIT Guwahati, the event will feature two race categories and a total prize pool of ₹2.5 lakh. Registrations for the marathon are now open to participants. GHM 2026 will follow the theme 'Run for Quality Education' to highlight the importance of accessible and equitable learning opportunities. Before the race, Team Techniche plans to visit orphanages across the region, donating educational materials as part of their outreach efforts.
The marathon will include two race options: the *Glory Run* (21 km) and the *Spirit Run* (6 km). As India's largest student-organised marathon, past editions have drawn nearly 4,000 runners. This year's event is part of Techniche's 28th edition, which includes a range of other initiatives and competitions. The Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium in Sarusajai will serve as the starting point for both races. Organisers have encouraged early sign-ups, with registration currently available online.
The marathon will bring together runners for a cause while offering a competitive platform with a ₹2.5 lakh prize pool. With its focus on education and community engagement, GHM 2026 aims to build on its reputation as a major student-led sporting event in the country.
