Gurugram to Host Maritime Info Sharing Workshop 2025 with 30 Nations

Gurugram is set to host the Maritime Information Sharing Workshop (MISW) 2025 from November 3-5. This significant event, organized by the Information Fusion Centre, Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) of the Indian Navy, aims to bolster regional collaboration and real-time information sharing across the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).

The workshop, expected to attract representatives from 30 nations including members of IORA, DCoC/JA, and BIMSTEC, will feature thematic sessions tailored to these regional groupings. Contributions from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and leading shipping companies are also anticipated. The BIMSTEC part of the workshop is organized by the Indian government.

A key highlight will be a high-fidelity Table Top Exercise (TTX) simulating real-world maritime threats. This will provide an opportunity to practise coordinated response planning. The event will be inaugurated by Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, with a keynote address by Sushil Mansing Khopde, Additional Director General of Shipping.

The outcomes of MISW 2025 are expected to shape the future of the region's maritime information ecosystem, reinforcing India's role in fostering a secure, stable, and cooperative IOR. The IFC-IOR, established in December 2018, has already emerged as a key platform for enhancing safety and security in the IOR, with 15 countries hosting International Liaison Officers and collaborations with 57 maritime security constructs and 25 partner nations.

With the participation of 30 nations and the involvement of key regional organizations and stakeholders, MISW 2025 promises to be a significant step towards strengthening maritime security and cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region. The workshop's outcomes will contribute to shaping a more secure and stable future for the region.
