It's Not Me, Günther: Daniel Hartwich Dismisses Rumors of Taking Over "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

Dan Hartwich considers himself unafit to be the heir of Günther Jauch's television hosting legacy. - Günther Jauch's successor, Daniel Hartwich, declares no claim to the mantle.

For all those who thought Daniel Hartwich, the popular "Let's Dance" and "Jungle Camp" host, might take up Günther Jauch's mantle when the latter retires, think again! In a chat with his colleague Katja Burkard, Hartwich shuns any notion of being dubbed "the new Günther Jauch."

According to the broadcast network's website, Hartwich considers this talk as nothing more than "absolute nonsense." No one has tapped him for the job, and as Hartwich quips with a chuckle, "Nobody has asked me" to take over "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Given the stature of Günther Jauch, Hartwich adds matter-of-factly, "That's a different category."

Is Hartwich Jungle-bound?

In the same discussion, they touch upon the hit show "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!," which Hartwich left in 2022 due to family commitments. Jan Köppen took over with Sonja Zietlow subsequently. Hartwich professes that he doesn't miss the show, having made a calculated decision that transpired over an extended period. But he fondly recalls the jungle days, admitting they were "a ton of stress" alongside "a lot of fun." Ultimately, he's at ease with his decision and the show's fate.

But don't get too excited; even though Hartwich jokes with Burkard about reentering the jungle, his serious self seems a tad hesitant. In an interview with the trade magazine "DWDL," he likens his potential reality in the camp to a nightmare. "They'd make me suffer, and bleed for everything I've ever said and done. And that's fair," Hartwich acknowledges. The thought of Sonja and Jan critiquing him while he grapples with contestants from "Are You The One?" over dwindling resources remains unpalatable for the host.
