Gunshots resonate at cross-country competitions and target-shooting events
Last Saturday, the Erwin-Piscator-Haus (EPH) in Marburg played host to the Citybiathlon event, organized by the Biathlon Germany Tour. Jana Hollerung, an event organizer known for coordinating the Citybiathlon, was pleased with the turnout, as nearly 100 competitors and around 100 try-out shooters participated, making a total of approximately 200 participants.
The event offered a unique experience for many, with participants competing in the 'Cardio Biathlon Duel.' This competition involved 400 meters of cross-country skiing on Thorax trainers and shooting five targets from ten meters away, while tired. Cross-country skiing was simulated using these trainers, providing a realistic feel without the need for actual snow.
The shooting portion was carried out with safe laser targets, allowing interested participants to test their marksmanship using original biathlon rifles equipped with infrared technology. The display automatically calculated the sum of the rings of the five shots, providing an immediate learning effect.
Councilwoman Kirsten Dinnebier visited the Biathlon Tour at EPH and tested the cross-country trainer. She expressed her satisfaction about the event, stating that it offered many people the opportunity to try out cross-country skiing and shooting without ammunition.
In the competition, Bella Nightingale received a Marburg voucher worth 20 euros as the day's best, while Berengar Doertelmann and Emmanuel Walter each secured a Marburg voucher worth 10 euros. The main prize, however, went to Miran Saibjanov. He won the day's best, which includes participation in the finale of the best stages of all cities in March 2026 in the biathlon ski hall in Oberhof, hotel accommodation for two, coaching by Olympic champion Michael Roesch, and participation in the winner's party.
The Biathlon Germany Tour had previously visited Marburg's district of Wehrda in 2016. For those interested in staying updated on important news from the town hall and city life, signing up for the University City of Marburg newsletter provides regular updates directly to your email inbox.
