Upcoming Superman Movie Nearing Completion, Final Cut Expected Next Week

In less than a month, James Gunn's anticipated Superman will hit the big screen as part of Warner Bros. Pictures' international release schedule on July 9, 2025. The Man of Steel's U.S. premiere is scheduled for July 11, 2025.

According to the latest updates from the film's director, James Gunn, the movie is nearing completion, with just a few VFX shots remaining to finish. Gunn debunked rumors about an official runtime of two hours and two minutes, emphasizing that the film's length will depend on its creative needs, considering the rising trend of blockbusters exceeding the two-hour mark.

Principal post-production work is nearing completion, with Gunn delivering the final cut imminently, as per the latest update on May 31, 2025. The advancement in production is significant, given that the film has undergone notable editorial changes in response to mixed reactions during test screenings, particularly in terms of Gunn’s signature humor, to enhance its reception.

Meanwhile, a global promotional campaign titled the Superman World Tour is in progress, starting on June 19, 2025, visiting major cities worldwide. This tour aims to create anticipation for the film's theatrical release, which will be available in various formats, including IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and 4DX.

Superman marks the beginning of James Gunn's new DCU, featuring numerous DC Comics characters apart from Superman. The movie promises to usher in multiple directions for a cinematic universe, similar to the impact Iron Man had when it first arrived, setting the stage for Marvel's expansive universe.

While the runtime might not be a primary concern for fans, the anticipation builds as the movie nears completion, bringing the highly-anticipated Superman just a little bit closer.

For those eager to delve into the DC universe ahead of the film's release, the first part of James Gunn's new DCU, Creature Commandoes, is now available on Max, where you can also watch every previous Superman movie. Annual plans on Max can save up to $41, or the cheapest monthly plan starts at $9.99. Max is also available as part of a bundle with Disney Plus and Hulu, starting from $16.99 a month.

The final cut of the upcoming Superman movie, scheduled for next week, will set the official runtime, keeping fans eagerly awaiting its theatrical release in various formats like IMAX, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema. Trailers, sneak peeks, and daily blend updates serve as an ongoing dose of entertainment, fueling excitement for not only this new Superman film but also James Gunn's expanding DC Universe, featuring movies-and-tv series on Max.
