Gunmen attack businessman's residence in Chittagong due to his unwillingness to comply with extortion demands
In the quiet residential area of Amanbazar, Hathazari Upazila, Chattogram, an incident of armed assault took place on the morning of August 20. The victim, Mohammad Shamsul Islam, also known as Mithu, a local businessman, allegedly defended his apartment with gunfire after refusing to pay an extortion demand of Tk50 lakh.
