Gunmen at large: Two armed suspects still on the loose following deadly shooting spree

In a bid to put the disappointing end to last season behind them, Hansa Rostock is already eyeing a powerful return to the 2. Bundesliga. With Director of Professional Football Amir Shapourzadeh leading the charge, the club's management is actively shaping a formidable squad.

Recent additions include the youngster Louis Köster, who's officially joined Holstein Kiel, and Benno Dietze, who's signed a long-term contract with FC Hansa. The latest acquisition is David Hummel from FC 08 Homburg, making him the sixth external new signing.

A prolific scorer, Hummel, with 15 goals and 2 assists in 31 appearances last season, is intensifying the competition in the Rostock attack. Trained in the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart and formerly a member of Germany's youth national team, the 23-year-old is currently the fifth striker in coach Daniel Brinkmann's squad.

Additionally, the re-signing of Sigurd Haugen, the top scorer of the previous season with ten goals, is still an option, depending on departures. However, the attack already boasts a sizable talent pool, with the likes of Ryan Naderi, Antonio Jonjic, Tim Krohn, Albin Berisha, and now Hummel.

It's no secret that Hansa is looking to offload two summer signings from last year, Jonjic and Berisha, who have underperformed. While Jonjic played 17 games but never started and didn't contribute to any goals, Berisha scored only against Hertha BSC in the DFB-Pokal and was involved in no more goals in the 3. Liga. Despite Berisha's contract running until 2027, Hansa might consider a loan to thin out the squad in the offensive department.

A loan deal is not an option for Jonjic, who is only contracted until 2026. However, his market value might still hold in Germany due to his previous performance at Erzgebirge Aue. In all, Hansa Rostock is gearing up for a strong comeback, with several key acquisitions and the potential for further signings.

Hansa Rostock is intensifying their European-leagues ambition with the acquisition of prolific scorer David Hummel, who scored 15 goals and 2 assists last season. Meanwhile, the club is also considering the re-signing of Sigurd Haugen, the top scorer of the previous season, depending on departures. This could further boost their sports prowess, especially in football.
