On Tuesday morning, a dramatic incident unfolded on I-580 between Flynn Road and Grant Line Road near Livermore. According to preliminary reports, a suspect in a red GMC Yukon reportedly fired "at least five rounds" at another vehicle - a Tesla Model 3 - while both cars were traveling eastbound.
The Tesla driver gallantly called 911, prompting immediate action from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers. The CHP swiftly broadcast the suspect vehicle's description to nearby agencies and requested a search via Flock Safety license-plate reader through its Traffic Management Center.
Mere minutes later, the San Leandro Police spotted the suspect's SUV stashed away in a parking lot in San Leandro. The perpetrator was swiftly taken into custody.
Turning the Tables
Upon searching the SUV, officers discovered a loaded handgun hidden within. The suspect is now facing charges of assault with a firearm and related offenses. As of now, the suspect's name remains undisclosed, pending formal charges.
