New addition to Walther Arms' compact handgun lineup: The Walther PD380

Walther Arms has recently introduced a new model to their compact handgun lineup – the Walther PD380. This pistol, a blend of modern design and classic Walther heritage, is chambered in the .380 ACP cartridge.

The Walther PD380 operates on a hammer-fired, double-action, single-action system. It features a 3.7-inch stainless steel barrel and a slide made of steel with a matte-black finish. The slide will lock back on the magazine follower after the last round has been fired, providing visual confirmation of an empty magazine.

The Walther PD380 includes a nine-round detachable box magazine, and it retains the slide-mounted safety lever, which is up for fire and down for safe. The slide-mounted safety lever is intuitively positioned for easy engagement with the thumb. Notably, the Walther PD380 does not include a manual slide-stop lever on the gun.

The trigger pull weight for the double-action is 9-lb., 15.5-oz., while the single-action pull weighs 6-lb., 2-oz., offering a smoother and lighter trigger pull after the first round. Each subsequent trigger pull provides a lighter, cleaner pull with shorter overall travel, enhancing the shooting experience.

The Walther PD380's sights have a three-white-dot configuration, and the rear sight is fully adjustable. The pistol's design was undertaken by Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen (Germany), combining elements of the Performance Duty Pistol series with the legacy PK380 platform.

The Walther PD380 is designed to be accessible and shootable for everyone. It boasts more aggressive slide serrations than the previous iteration, making it easier to get a good purchase on the slide. The Walther PD380 weighs 20.6 ounces, making it a lightweight yet sturdy option for concealed carry or everyday use.

In summary, the Walther PD380 is a well-crafted addition to Walther Arms' compact handgun lineup. With its blend of modern design and classic Walther heritage, it offers a reliable and user-friendly shooting experience for those seeking a compact .380 ACP pistol.
