Gun Manufacturing Companies Merge and Shut Down Operations in 2025
In the world of firearms, 2025 saw a series of notable changes as companies restructured and expanded their operations.
One significant development was the acquisition of VK Integrated Systems (VKIS) by EOTEch in early August. This move added VKIS's operations, based in Clarksville, Tenn., to EOTEch's growing portfolio.
Meanwhile, in January, Thompson/Center Arms expanded its operations by acquiring Green Mountain Barrel Company. Green Mountain Barrel Company, a steady OEM provider to several major firearm manufacturers, now forms a key part of Thompson/Center Arms's operations.
Another notable change came in the form of acquisitions within the Kinetic Group. In April, the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) secured 100 percent ownership of the Fiocchi Group, a move that was announced in April 2025. However, no specific information about the acquisition of Fiocchi of America was provided.
The Kinetic Group continued to grow in 2025, with the addition of Fiocchi of America in May. It's currently unclear which company acquired Fiocchi of America.
In a separate development, The Kinetic Group announced the addition of Fiocchi of America to its family of companies in 2025. The Kinetic Group, which already owned brands like Rugar and Savage Arms, now includes Fiocchi of America in its portfolio.
The trend of company changes hasn't reached tectonic proportions yet, but there were several notable shifts. In January, MDT acquired the Mountain and Backcountry bipod lines from MTNGear. Around the same time, Alexandria Pro-Fab acquired the intellectual property and physical assets of Adams Arms.
In the realm of ammunition manufacturing, Olin, parent company of Winchester Ammunition, purchased all small-caliber ammunition manufacturing assets from Ammo Inc. in early 2025.
On the downside, SCCY Firearms closed its operations in April and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August. Del-Ton's closure was another setback, although specific information about the closure was not provided.
Performance Engineering's operations were moved to Lehigh's Clarksville, Texas, facility following Lehigh Defense's acquisition of all assets of Performance Engineering in late June.
Lastly, in a move that combined the No. 1 and No. 7 firearm manufacturers, Ruger acquired Anderson Manufacturing in 2025.
As we look ahead, it will be interesting to see how these changes affect the firearm industry in the coming years.
