Chinese National Liu Feng Arrested in Pattaya for Social Media Posts Showing Guns

A Chinese national, Liu Feng, was arrested in Pattaya, Thailand, after posting photos of himself holding guns on social media. The arrest was prompted by reports of a person using a profile photo that showed him with multiple firearms.

The luxury home where Liu Feng was arrested is located on Thepprasit Road in Pattaya and is worth 10 million baht, sitting on over 200 square wah of land. The property was found to have an unlocked front gate, and officers were unable to gain entry through the doorbell. Upon entering the property, they encountered Liu Feng who appeared visibly startled by the police presence.

During a search of the property, no real firearms were found, but BB guns and ammunition were discovered. A short-barrelled BB gun and a long-barrelled BB rifle were found in the search, along with sixteen rounds of 9mm ammunition in a wardrobe or safe. Liu Feng admitted that the only weapons in his possession were BB guns.

Liu Feng claimed the weapons were borrowed and had been used only for posing in photos for fun before posting the images online. However, the discovery of live ammunition could lead to charges related to the unauthorized possession of ammunition. Additionally, posting images of himself with real firearms, even if borrowed, could be seen as misrepresenting himself or causing public disturbance through the posting of such images online.

Liu Feng was handed over to investigators for further legal proceedings. It is important to note that while no real firearms were found during the search, the possession of BB guns and live ammunition, along with the social media posts, could still lead to legal consequences. Pattaya police have warned that flaunting weapons, even fake ones, online can carry real consequences.

Liu Feng's arrest in Pattaya was not limited to social media posts showing guns; his online activities also encompassed entertainment and general news, broadcasting his luxurious lifestyle on various platforms. Moreover, the charges against Liu Feng may expand beyond unauthorized possession of ammunition and misrepresentation, as crime and justice implications could arise from his posts depicting weapons, even if they were fake.
