Guildo Horn: Eurovision's Not His Jam Anymore

Rivalry Not Involved - "Guildo no longer views the Eurovision Song Contest as a competition": Guildo's Change in Perspective

Guildo Horn, the 62-year-old German vet from '98 Eurovision, can't shake the feeling that the current Eurovision scene ain't his scene. "This old dog ain't got no place in this new trick," Horn spilled to RND, citing his advanced age as the main reason. In 2021, he couldn't find a single song that tickled his fancy.

According to Horn, he's a purist at heart, liking his music raw and melodious, away from all that modern tech. "I ain't into all these video walls, making the artists seem like just a speck in the production."

Abor & Tynna's "Baller" Wish List

Despite his reservations, Horn believes the German entry, "Baller" by Abor & Tynna, deserves a shot at the trophy. "They're fierce on stage, no doubt about it. The music might not be my cup of tea, but they've got moxie, and I'll cheer 'em on."

Born in Trier, Horn ventured into music therapy after graduating with a degree in pedagogy. His advocacy for disabled individuals has been a constant in his life. In 1998, he remarkable 7th place for Germany with his iconic single "Guildo Has You." He's been calling the rural Bergisches region near Cologne home for a while now.

As for his plans on Eurovision final night, May 17, Horn will raise the curtain at an inclusive music festival in Trier, alongside a disabled band. This event is close to his heart, he says.
